Tony Gwynn, Offensive Explosion, and How Baseball Trumps Science

June 3, 2016 By

“Mark McGwire would go out every night, when he was chasing the record, with millions of people watching him, and he would just hit another one” says Jimbo. “The craziest part about that is that if you break it down scientifically, it is physically impossible to hit a baseball, because of how little time you have to react.”

“Baseball guys have to have amnesia, because they just fail so much, it has to get to you eventually” says Johno.

“There are a few moments that I will never forget,” says Jimbo. “The one that sticks out the most, baseball-wise, is when I was at Busch Stadium for the 2011 World Series when David Freese became a St. Louis hero.”

“I’ll never forget a few moments either” says Johno. “One is when I got to see Johnny Bench play his last game as a Red, in Busch Stadium, and the second is when I saw Tony Perez at the Red’s hotel and he said to me, ‘Go to bed, you’re too young to be up this late.’”

“I absolutely hate it that money has taken over the game,” Johno rants. “Even kids these days don’t care about playing for their hometown team, they just want to play where there is the most money.”

“Currently, Tony Gwynn’s family is suing a tobacco company because he used their tobacco, but my question is, did anyone force Tony to put tobacco in his mouth? Because if not, then it isn’t the company’s fault that he was addicted. I really expected more from his family,” says Johno.
